I've received a number of similar questions from family, friends, and strangers over the past few years. I decided it might be a good idea to create a resource with those questions and my answers for anyone that's interested.

What do you do?

I  do a lot of different things but this question is usually about what I do for a living. That's changed quite a bit over the past few years. If you're interested in the long story, you can see my resume here. The short story is I worked in finance, left to join a startup, and have since worked at 2 different startups, the last of which was acquired by a bigger company.

How do you make money?

To date, the majority of the money I've made has been from my full-time jobs at Merrill Lynch, Change Heroes, and Mapkin (subsequently MapQuest after the acquisition).

How do you travel so much?

I realize that compared to some people I've traveled a lot. However, it's also true that compared to others, I've barely scratched the surface.

For me personally, traveling (or any other lifestyle) comes down to priority. I've made it a priority in my life to travel and see as much of this world as possible. I think that's something my mother (who bought a one-way ticket to Hawaii after graduating high school) instilled in me from a young age. So what does that actually mean? It means that means whenever I'm making decisions or considering things decision like jobs, living situations, commitments, and the like...I'm always factoring in how it will influence and affect my ability to travel.

As far as money goes, you'd be surprised at how cheap some flights and AirBnB's are.

Where have you been?

I've traveled to nearly every state in the United States while also completing two cross country road trips which you can see more of here.

I've also been to Aruba, London, Paris, Costa Rica, Canada, Amsterdam, and Kenya.

What gear do you use?

You can find a full list of my gear here.

What books are you reading?

You can find a full list of the books I've read here.

I'm someone who tends to read a lot of books in a short period of time and then not read any books for a long period of time. I'm also someone who is constantly looking for book recommendations and appreciates when others share what they're reading. So here's a full list of the books I've read.
